Ushuaia: Beagle Channel Tour to Martillo Island and walk among Penguins

Ushuaia Trip Overview

We head in our modern minibuses towards the National Route, on the way to the legendary Harberton Ranch, always accompanied by our specialized guides. Once there, we will have a guided visit to the historic center and then we will sail from the Harberton dock to Martillo Island, a 15-minute ride, in a semi-rigid boat (ship suitable for navigation in the area – ZODIAK). On the island, we will walk for 1 hour between Papuan and Magellanic penguins, always with a guide, experiencing a unique adventure.
The penguins settle on the island during the summer, sharing the habitat with other birds. Isla Martillo, in the Beagle Channel, is part of Estancia Harberton, and home to the penguins
Upon returning to the ranch, we will visit the museum of birds and mammals. On our return to the city of Ushuaia on route J, we will make a last stop to see the flag tree. Icon of the place for adopting this form due to the action of the wind.

Departing from our office at the tourist dock of the city of Ushuaia, we headed on our boat Les Eclaireurs heading southeast to discover the Beagle Channel, having as final destination the Estancia Harberton

Once in the Les Eclaireurs archipelago we can see the famous homonymous lighthouse that also has colonies of imperial cormorants and rockers on its islets. We will leave the Lighthouse to continue sailing towards our destination, on the way you can observe the predominant vegetation of the area, as well as the town of Puerto Williams (Chile) on Navarino Island.

On the banks of the Beagle Channel and surrounded by the Martial mountain range, it offers a unique landscape in Argentina, with the combination of mountains, sea, glaciers and forests. Navigating the Beagle Channel is another must-see experience since this was the scene of the feats of those first colonizers and is home to the characteristic marine fauna of the region.
To enjoy your stay in Ushuaia, we suggest you always have at least one waterproof coat, and comfortable shoes to travel comfortably and safely, through the sloping streets, characteristics of this city.

Stop At: Isla de Los Pajaros, Beagle Channel, Ushuaia Argentina

On the way we will make stops on the Isla de los Pájaros where we can see a colony of Imperial Cormorants and other birds such as skúas, giant petrels from the south and black-browed albatrosses; on Isla de los Lobos we can appreciate the South American sea lions with one and two hairs

Stop At: Estancia Harberton, Ruta J Km 45 Canal de Beagle, Ushuaia 9410 Argentina

 We will leave the Lighthouse to continue sailing towards our destination, on the way you can observe the predominant vegetation of the area, as well as the town of Puerto Williams (Chile) on Navarino Island. Once in Estancia Harberton, we will make a 15-minute navigation from the pier to Isla Martillo in a semi-rigid boat

On the island we will walk for an hour between Magellanic penguins and Papuans, always with a guide. Back in the room there will be time for lunch (food and drink not included) and visit the museum of sea bones and marine mammals Acatushún. After the museum visit, we will return to the city of Ushuaia in our minibuses through Provincial Route J and National Route No. 3.
