What to Expect When Visiting Salta, Salta Province, Argentina

Itinerary
Day 1: Salta – Iruya
Stop At: The Hill of Seven Colors, Purmamarca Argentina
Accompanied by local guides, we head to the area of Quebrada de Humahuaca, where we will first visit Purmamarca, to observe the Cerro de los Siete Colores, the Church and the Artisan Market at the square.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Pucara de Tilcara, Tilcara Argentina
We will pass by Horn Post, continuing towards the town of Tilcara to visit Pucará and the Archaeological Museum.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Museo Arqueologico Dr. Eduardo Casanova, Calle Dr Manuel Belgrano 445, Tilcara Y4624AFI Argentina
Discover the museum and learn about the past of the region.

Stop At: Tropico de Capricornio, Ruta 9, Huacalera, Tilcara Argentina
Next stop is in Huacalera, where we will pass the Tropic of Capricorn, from where you can see the colours of the Pollera de la Colla Hill.

Stop At: Iglesia San Francisco de Paula, Uquia Argentina
Visit to the Church of Uquía, where we find the paintings of the Angels Arcabuceros (important remains of Cuzco style art).

Stop At: Quebrada de Humahuaca, Rio Grande Purmamarca Village, Humahuaca Argentina
The Quebrada de Humahuaca is located in the province of Jujuy, all along the river called “Río Grande”.

Stop At: Iglesia de Plaza Central de Humahuaca, Plaza central, Humahuaca Argentina
Arrival to Humahuaca, with its important Cathedral and the Monument to Independence (El Indio) by the sculptor Soto Avendaño.

Stop At: Iruya, Iruya, Province of Salta, Northern Argentina
We continue our journey, passing through the town of Iturbe and Abra del Cóndor (3900 masl) arriving at the beginning of a small gorge where this small town, Iruya, of pre-Hispanic origins, is located. We spend the night here (accommodation is not included).

Day 2: Iruya – Salta
Stop At: San Salvador de Jujuy, San Salvador de Jujuy, Province of Jujuy, Northern Argentina
During the next day, we begin our trip back to Salta, visiting the city of San Salvador de Jujuy on the way.
We return to our hotels in Salta in the afternoon.
