Day 1: Arrival in Salta

Stop At: Cathedral of Salta, Salta Argentina
In the afternoon prepare to discover Salta. Founded in the 16th century by Spanish visionary Hernando de Lerma, Salta turned into a wildly successful trading center.

See evidence of Salta’s heyday in the gold-plated cathedrals and mansions; Salta is reconized for its beautiful and well-preserved colonial architecture.

Reaching the central plaza, behold the grand, twin-towered Cathedral of Salta, built in 1885, and learn about national hero General Güemes, whose remains rest in the cathedral; he fought against the Spanish during Argentina’s war for independence.

Stop At: Basilica Menor San Francisco, Cordoba corner with Caseros, Salta Argentina
Pass by the Cultural Center of the Americas, and note the Spanish viceroyalty colonial architecture of the Historical Museum of the North, housed in the old cabildo, or town hall.

Admire postcard-perfect San Francisco Church, with towering white pillars supporting a crimson-colored façade. Its purple belfry stands 174 feet (53 meters) tall, and the bell it holds was constructed out of the cannons used during the Battle of Salta.

Pass by the 16th-century San Bernardo Convent, one of the oldest buildings in the city, and the General Güemes monument.

Stop At: Cerro San Bernardo, Salta Argentina
Leave the city center and head into the foothills skirting Salta. At the top of San Bernardo Hill, take in sweeping views of the city and Andean peaks. See the Battle of Salta monument and February 20th Park, built in commemoration of the battle fought and won here during the war for independence.

Stop At: Quebrada de San Lorenzo, San Lorenzo 4400 Argentina
Visit the nearby village of San Lorenzo, frequented by wealthy families from Salta during the summer because of its unusual subtropical microclimate.

Stop At: Mercado Artesanal Tradicional, Avenida Gral San Martin 2555, Salta A4404AJD Argentina
Return to Salta and stop at the Artisan Market, located inside a traditional white colonial building. Snack on alfajores (cookies with caramel filling) and candied walnuts, or pick up one-of-a-kind purses, blankets and jewelry (snacks and shopping at your own expense).

With your souvenir shopping done, you’ll be taken back to your hotel.

Day 2: Wine tasting in Cafayate

Stop At: Valle de Lerma, Region Saltena, Salta Argentina
After being picked up at your hotel, the guide will drive you with along the fertile Lerma Valley, you will pass different towns like Cerrillos, La Merced, El Carril and Coronel Moldes. This is an important area for tobacco plantations, as you will see along the road.

Stop At: Mercado Artesanal Cafayate, Avenida Martin Guemes sur 81, Cafayate A4427AQA Argentina
Upon arrival into Cafayate, a picturesque village famous for its vineyards.

Visit a winery with wine tasting included, the tour and tasting are guided by a sommelier who explains the particularities of the wine, the vineyard and the winery as well.

Time for lunch in Cafayate, enjoy around the city and markets.

Stop At: Quebrada del Rio de las Conchas, Ruta Nacional 68, Cafayate Argentina
In the afternoon, we return to Salta through Las Conchas Gorge, stopping in “Posta de las Cabras”, famous producer of goat cheese.

The tour ends with the drop off at the hotels in Salta.

Day 3: Quebrada de Humahuaca

Stop At: Salta, Salta, Province of Salta, Northern Argentina
A trip through the “Quebrada de Humahuaca” declared a World Heritage Site, where the landscape and the colors of the hills combine with the equally colorful cultures that inhabit this area.

We depart at 7:00am from your hotel. On the way to Humahuaca, we go through different villages like Volcán, Tumbaya and Maimará.

Stop At: The Hill of Seven Colors, Purmamarca Argentina
It begins with the arrival to the Town of Purmamarca to observe the Cerro de los Siete Colores (Seven Colors Hill), you will have time to visit the the Church and the Artisan Market and to walk around the village.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Pucara de Tilcara, Tilcara Argentina
After a short bus ride you get to Tilcara, where you visit the Archeological Museum and the “Pucará” (amazing indigenous ruins).
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Tropico de Capricornio, Ruta 9, Huacalera, Tilcara Argentina
Continue to Huacalera, passage of the Tropic of Capricorn, from where you can see the colors of the hill called the Pollera de la Colla.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Iglesia de Plaza Central de Humahuaca, Plaza central, Humahuaca Argentina
Arrival in Humahuaca with its important Cathedral and the Monument to Independence (El Indio) by the sculptor Soto Avendaño.
Get time for lunch and tour the village.
Duration: 2 hours

Pass By: Las Paletas Del Pintor, Maimara, Tilcara Argentina
Return after lunch to observe the Paleta del Pintor route that frames the town of Maimara.

The tour ends with the hotel return around 20:00 hs.
