What to Expect When Visiting El Calafate, Santa Cruz Province, Argentina

Itinerary

Pass By: El Calafate, El Calafate, Province of Santa Cruz, Patagonia

Locality located on the southern margin of Lake Argentino. It owes its notoriety for being the gateway to the Los Glaciares National Park. After going to look for passengers through the hotel from 7 am, we will travel in a comfortable bus to the Port of Punta Bandera, located 47 km from El Calafate.

Pass By: Lago Argentino, El Calafate Argentina

Once passengers embark on the incredible ship, navigation begins on the North Arm of Lake Argentino at 9 am. Crossing the Boca del Diablo to the Upsala Canal. You navigate between the large icebergs that emerge from the front of the Upsala Glacier, to enter the Spegazzini Canal having a panoramic view of the different glaciers, being able to take pictures at the different stops to observe the ice blocks.

Pass By: Perito Moreno Glacier, Los Glaciares National Park Argentina

It contains numerous glaciers, on the route you can see Dry Glacier, Spegazzin Glacier, South Heim Glacier and Peineta Glacier. During navigation, you can observe the blocks of ice from all angles and take the best photos.

Stop At: Glaciar Spegazzini, Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, Los Glaciares National Park Argentina

The landing will be made at La Base Spegazzini to make a trek through the path of 300 meters of the forest to the Spegazzini Refuge, It is accessible and does not represent complexity since it is done on firm ground. There will be a post at different stations (Glaciology – History – Fauna and Flora) with viewpoints overlooking the entire Bay of Los Glaciares. Once in the Refuge you can enjoy the gastronomy, the shop and an incredible panoramic view from its rooms and from the outside (Deck & Terrace). Another possibility is to take the mountain path. of medium difficulty through a wooded road, with natural viewpoints, full of incredible views that ends at the landing point.

Once back on top of the ship, the second part of the navigation will take place until returning to Punta Bandera around 4 pm. Return to El Calafate at approximately 5 pm.
