In 1936 the establishment was inaugurated after having been equipped with 18 murals by the Boquense artist and years later the Museum of Argentine Artists was inaugurated in the same building, with a representative collection of national art from the 19th century to the present. While, on the third floor, there is currently the House-Museum of Benito Quinquela Martín, where some of his greatest works are exhibited.
